As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, The Wyoming Highway Patrol is reminding drivers not to get behind the wheel if they’ve been drinking. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports over 700 people were killed nationwide in crashes involving a drunk driver during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday from 2006 to 2010.

Whether you are gathering with friends at the local pub or attending the big party, if alcohol is part of the festivities, make sure you designate a sober driver to get you home safely.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol will have extra Troopers on patrol statewide throughout the St. Patrick’s Day Weekend looking for impaired drivers.  In some areas of the State, like Cheyenne, The Cheyenne Regional DUI Task Force will be out in force St. Patrick’s Day weekend to deter impaired drivers on Cheyenne and Laramie County Roads.

The Cheyenne Regional DUI Task Force is composed of officers from the Wyoming Highway Patrol, Cheyenne Police Department, Laramie County Sheriff’s Department and the Wyoming State Parks.
