The Wyoming Cowboys dropped their fourth game in a row, as Colorado State extended their home winning streak to 26 games, with a 65-46 win at Moby Arena this (Saturday) evening. The Cowboys were taken to task inside by the more physical Rams, as CSU outrebounded the Pokes by 14, and outscored Wyoming from the free throw line 20-5. Senior guard Derrious Gilmore did all he could to keep Wyoming in the game, scoring a career high 26 points, and tying a career high with six three-pointers. At one point, Gilmore scored 16 straight points for the Cowboys. Gilmore says they just couldn’t get over the hump.
Outside of Gilmore, no other Cowboy was in double figures, as he actually had more made field goals, nine, than the rest of the team combined. The Cowboys did close the CSU gap to eight on a couple of different occasions in the second half, but sophomore guard Riley Grabau said CSU just had an answer for everything.
Wyoming falls to 15-6 overall and 2-6 in the Mountain West. They are at Cal-State Bakersfield on Wednesday.
