Some small Wyoming movie theaters are struggling to raise the money to convert to digital movies as the industry abandons film.

The Ritz in Thermopolis,  the Washakie Twin in Worland and the Princess in Douglas (pictured) are trying various fundraisers to raise the estimated $70,000-per-screen cost.

Bill Campbell, owner of Centennial in Sheridan, says studios haven’t set a hard deadline to convert, but most theaters have already switched so fewer film copies are being produced.

The Ritz in Thermopolis is selling naming rights to seats for a contribution of $50 or more.

Owners of the Princess in Douglas might place stars with donors’ names in the sidewalk in front.

The owner of the Washakie Twin says he’s considering refinancing his home to raise the money.
