Wyoming senior guard Luke Martinez was arrested early Sunday morning, around 2:15, and charged with aggravated assault stemming from an off-campus incident on December 30th. Martinez was involved in a fight at the Buckhorn bar in Laramie that night. It was during that incident that Martinez broke a bone in his hand, in what head coach Larry Shyatt called a “boxer’s fracture”. It was initially said that no charges were going to be filed against Martinez in the altercation, but Commander Mitchell Cushman of the Laramie Police Department said due to new information coming out from witnesses, that aggravated assault charges have now been filed.
Multiple people were involved in the fight, but Martinez was one of the few that remained to talk to police. Aggravated assault is punishable by up to ten years in prison. Martinez has missed the last three games for Wyoming, and averaged 14.5 points a game. The Pokes are 2-1 without Martinez.
