Gun Bills Continue To Advance Through Wyoming Legislature

By Mick Birge posted Jan 31, 2013 at 6:24AM

The Wyoming House of Representatives has given preliminary approval to a bill seeking to block the federal government from restricting assault weapons and high-capacity magazines in the state.

The House on Wednesday also gave preliminary approval to a bill that would allow citizens who hold concealed carry permits to carry guns on campuses of public schools and college campuses.

State representative Al Sommers of Pinedale voted in favor of the first measure but not the second.

He says to get his support, that bill needs to be amended.

Both bills would need two more approvals in the House (pictured) before heading to the Senate.

Last month’s massacre of 20 elementary school students in Connecticut has prompted new calls for gun control.
