CFD Packs Quite A “Punch” For Cheyenne

By Mick Birge posted Jan 31, 2013 at 6:21AM

A new study commissioned by Cheyenne Frontier Days shows the economic impact the “Daddy of ‘Em All” has on the capitol city.

Portland, Oregon-based Dean Runyan Associates found that tourists coming to town for CFD inject $25 million into the local economy through direct spending, including $4.8 million on food and beverages at local restaurants and bars.

Visitors also spend $2.7 million on overnight accommodations, $6.5 million on entertainment and recreation, and $10.6 million on retail purchases. All of this spending generated $460,000 in local tax revenue for Cheyenne and $566,000 in state tax revenue.

CFD Chief Executive Officer Dan Cheney says this the first study of its kind since 1997.

Cheney also says the as of yet unannounced opening night show for the 2013 edition of “The Daddy” will feature a headliner that has never been to Cheyenne before.
