A pair of Wyoming sophomores were named the offensive and defensive players of the week in the Mountain West, after their performances against Colorado State last Saturday. Quarterback Brett Smith threw for 235 yards and four touchdowns, while running for another TD. And cornerback Blair Burns returned an interception 99 yards for a score and made four tackles, to earn the defensive honor.
The Cowboys were as balanced as they’ve been in the Border War win, as they ran up well over 200 yards on the ground and through the air, and Smith says he believes that’s why they won the game Saturday. But he says the Pokes need to do more of that the rest of the year.
Wyoming is back on the road this weekend, when they head to Albuquerque Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is at 1:30 pm.
