State wildlife managers in northwest Wyoming say two bull moose battled to the death recently over a mate.
South Jackson game warden Jerry Longobardi received the report Sept. 29 and investigated the rare occurrence.
On the top of a butte, he found two bull moose dead side-by-side, antlers stuck together. One moose died of a broken neck. The other animal’s cause of death was less clear.
Longobardi says its the first time he’s seen two moose died like that.
