Two Bull Moose Fight To The Death Apparently Over A Mate

By Mick Birge posted Oct 15, 2012 at 10:56AM

State wildlife managers in northwest Wyoming say two bull moose battled to the death recently over a mate.

South Jackson game warden Jerry Longobardi received the report Sept. 29 and investigated the rare occurrence.

On the top of a butte, he found two bull moose dead side-by-side, antlers stuck together. One moose died of a broken neck. The other animal’s cause of death was less clear.

Longobardi says its the first time he’s seen two moose died like that.
