There are still plenty of Area 5 and Area 6 type-6 licenses available for cow or calf elk, and the Game and Fish Department has made it easier for hunters to get access to those critters. Most of the land in those areas is private, but in an effort to reduce the herd sizes, landowners have opened up a ton of private land for a special late-season hunt.

You’ll have to get down to the Cheyenne and Laramie area to hunt it, but your chances of harvesting an animal should be a lot better than just about anywhere else in Wyoming for this hunt.
