Snow will start to fall in northwest and western Wyoming later today as a cold front starts to move in.  Further east, it will be a mild but breezy January day.  The strongest winds will be found in the southeast along I-80.  A High Wind Watch has been posted for some areas this afternoon and this evening.

Speaking of the evening, snow showers will spread into the central portion of the state and then travel southeast tonight into Friday morning.  The western quarter of the state will see the most significant snowfall from this front.  Much of western Wyoming is under a Winter Weather Advisory through Friday morning.  Southern portions of Yellowstone National Park could see six to 12 inches of snow.   Lighter accumulations will found further south and east and along some stretches of southern I-25 late this evening through Friday morning.  In the far southeast, visibility may be reduced at times tonight due to the strong winds and passing snow showers.

On Friday, behind the cold front, it will be cooler statewide.  Lingering snow showers in the morning will give way to mainly dry conditions in the afternoon and evening.
