Last week, CSNN reported a story released statewide about a letter Wyoming Republican Gubernatorial candidate Ron Micheli wrote to a Natrona County judge on behalf of a convicted rapist.  Ty McDowell, better known as the Craigslist rapist, was sentenced to 60 years in prison for raping a Casper woman back in December of 2009.

Micheli appeared on affiliate KROE radio in Sheridan earlier this month explaining the letter was from him and his wife responding to a legal request about a young man they taught in Sunday school years ago in Casper.  Micheli has said he does not condone McDowell’s crime in any way and supports the sentence handed down.

But, the story of the letter has prompted reaction from the public including those who called in to KROE in reponse to a poll question following Micheli’s appearance…(Click to hear comments from KROE listeners)

Micheli is one of four Republicans seeking the party’s nomination for Governor.
