Freshman Desmar Jackson poured in a new career high 31 points, but that couldn’t spark the Cowboys, as they lost their straight falling to Utah 74-64 in Salt Lake City Saturday. Adam Waddell was the next leading scorer with 9. The Cowboys fall to 91-19 on the season and 2-12 in Mountain West Conference play. The loss officially secures the Pokes in the play in game at the conference tournament against Air Force. The Cowboys will host the Falcons Wednesday night in Laramie.
The Cowgirls once again had a lead late int eh game, but just couldn’t make the plays down the stretch losing to Utah 52-48 at home Sunday afternoon. It was only the second home loss for the Cowgirls this season, but it dropped them to 7-7 in Conference play, and into a jumbled pack for the fourth through seventh spots in the Conference standings.
