Representative Kathy Davison’s daughter was murdered last year in Colorado. Now the Kemmerer Republican (pictured) is pushing two bills through the Wyoming Legislature she hopes will save other women.
Davison’s daughter, 33-year old Kelly Burgess, was pregnant when she was shot and killed in Loveland, Colorado last October. Police in Loveland have charged Burgess’ husband with her murder.
The Wyoming Legislature has approved both of Davison’s bills. One would enhance penalties for killing a pregnant woman and the other would specify that a person who kills their spouse can lose their parental rights to surviving children.
Governor Freudenthal says he’s inclined to sign both bills into law.
