Snow and wind for Wyoming

By DayWeather, Inc. posted Mar 30, 2010 at 7:02AM

Numerous Winter Storm Watches and Warnings have been posted for western Wyoming’s mountains and valleys through the next 36 hours as a series of strong and moist Pacific storm systems move into the state. Snow will be heavy at times in the western mountains. Snowfall will be heavy, as much as 15 to 30 inches can be expected in the western mountains by Wednesday morning with 8 to 16 inches in the far western valleys. Wind will cause blowing and drifting snow as well. Along and east of the divide, very strong winds will be found again today. Winds will be strongest along I-80 and I-25 where wind gusts will exceed 60 to 70 mph in and near the central and southern mountains. High Wind Warnings have been posted for many areas of the central and south. The focus of the snow will reach areas east of the divide Wednesday night and Thursday along with falling temperatures. It promises to be a very active week of weather to all of Wyoming. Travelers can expect poor travel at times all week, either from strong winds or snow or a combination of both.
