Wyoming fans will once again see their Cowboys face some of the nation’s top teams in War Memorial Stadium this coming season as 2009 Top 25 ranked Boise State and Utah are among the six home opponents for the Pokes this coming season. Added to that are home games versus longtime conference rivals Air Force, Colorado State and San Diego State. The season will kick off on Saturday, Sept. 4 versus Southern Utah with the first night game in War Memorial Stadium since the 2004 season.
The season opener versus Southern Utah will be played at 7 p.m. to showcase the enhancements to War Memorial Stadium that have been completed over the past year.
Two weeks later, the Cowboys will host Boise State on Saturday, Sept. 18 in a second night game (kickoff set for 6 p.m.) that will be televised nationally on CBS College Sports. The Boise State Broncos concluded the 2009 season ranked No. 4 in both the final Associated Press Poll and USA Today Coaches’ Poll. The Broncos are ranked in the Top Five in numerous 2010 preseason polls as they return the majority of their team, including leading All-America candidate, quarterback Kellen Moore.
League play will open for the Pokes on Saturday, Sept. 25 when they host Air Force at noon. The other three conference home games will feature Utah on Saturday, Oct. 16 in a 4:00 p.m. game. The Utes ended the ‘09 season ranked No. 18 by both AP and the USA Today Coaches’ Polls. San Diego State will travel to Laramie on Saturday, Oct. 30 for a game beginning at noon, and the home finale will feature the “Border War” between Wyoming and Colorado State on Saturday, Nov. 20 at noon. The Wyoming-CSU game is being played the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving, while UW students are still on campus.
