Wyatt Kunert has been attacked by a neighbor’s pit bull for a second time. But, the second time, he was attacked by the dog trying to keep it from attacking his two-year old brother.
The Wyoming Tribune-Eagle is reporting the latest attached happened this past Thursday when the pit bull apparently jumped a four-foot fence in an attempted to attack two year old Jordan Kunert.
But when 10-year old Wyatt saw what was happening he quickly pushed his brother into the family house. The dog then went after Wyatt. The dog had such a grip on Wyatt’s leg, the dog’s owner and another man who saw what happened started beating on the dog to get it to release Wyatt’s leg. They were successful.
Injuries from the bite did require Wyatt to have to have surgery on the leg. He is expected to make a full recovery.
The dog was relinquished by the owners to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter. They were fined. The dog will be euthanized once animal control officials determine whether or not the pit bull has rabies because his vaccinations were not kept up to date.
Wyatt’s mother is calling her son a true hero and what he did truly saved her younger son’s life.
Incredibly, this is the second time the same dog has attacked young Wyatt Kunert. The first time was in April 2009. Wyatt suffered lacerations to the face during the first attack.

Pit bulls aren’t mean it’s the people who train them to be mean.
