About a hundred troops, most of them based at guard units in Casper and Torrington returned home this past Saturday. All 700 soldiers are part of the largest deployment in the history of the Wyoming Army National Guard.
Meanwhile, The Department of Defense says a 19-year-old Marine from Gillette has died in Afghanistan. Officials say Lance Cpl. Jacob Ross (pictured) died Wednesday while supporting combat operations in Helmand province. His uncle Steve Sundermeyer told the Gillette News-Record that Ross’ deployment was supposed to end in May.
