The chairman of a key Senate committee says a bill that would have allowed Wyoming residents to a carry concealed gun without a permit is dead in this session.
Republican Sen. Tony Ross of Cheyenne (top picture) is chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Ross says the bill doesn’t have enough votes to pass in his committee.
If passed, the bill would have allowed citizens to carry concealed guns on their bodies without a permit.
Senator Charles Scott of Casper (also pictured) says if the bill made it to Senate floor it would not have had his support. He says getting rid of concealed weapons permits would also mean Wyoming gun owners with concealed weapons would lose their reciprocity with other states…(Click to hear comment from Sen. Scott)
Meanwhile, Ross, who supports the measure, says spending time trying to get enough votes in his committee to pass it, could essentially mean killing other bills that have a chance of passing before next Friday’s session close.
