Willoughby Found Guilty of 25-Year Old Murder!

PINEDALE, Wyo. (AP) — A Sublette County jury has convicted a man of first-degree murder in the death of a Jackson woman whose body was found along a western Wyoming highway 25 years ago.

The jury deliberated for a little more than two hours Friday before delivering a guilty verdict for 46-year-old Troy Dean Willoughby of Wickes, Mont.

Wickes had pleaded not guilty to shooting 25-year-old Elizabeth Miles Ehlers. Ehlers’ body was found with gunshot wounds to the head, chest and hand in June 1984 at a gravel pullout off U.S. 191 near Hoback Canyon.

Sublette County Attorney Lucky McMahon (MAC-ma-hawn) says her office is seeking a life prison sentence for Willoughby. A sentence hearing is not yet scheduled.

McMahon says the eight-day trial marks the first known murder conviction in Sublette County since 1912.
