Winter Weather Advisories Posted for Big Horns, Black Hills & Snowy Range

The National Weather Service has posted Winter Weather Advisories for Big Horns and Snowy Range mountains tonight and into mid day Thursday.  The Bear Lodge Mountains of Wyoming and Northern Black Hills are under a Winter Storm Warning tonight.

“Snowfall amounts of 3 to 8 inches will be possible in the Big Horns above 7000 feet, with 3 to 5 inches in the Bear Lodge Mountains and Black Hills of Wyoming, ” said Don Day of DayWeather, Inc. of Cheyenne. Day added that the Snowy Range and Sierra Madre mountains will pick up 2 to 4 inches of snow tonight through mid day Thursday. Casper Mountain can expect 2 to 5 inches of new snow.

Snow has fallen for most of the day over Teton, Togwotee and South Passes. Snow has been reported early today in Evanston, Kemmerer and Jackson.

High wind warnings are in effect for Thursday for many areas of southeastern Wyoming where winds may gust 30 to 60 mph.
