A strong Pacific storm system will slam into Wyoming today bringing a wide variety of weather to the state and region. Expect strong winds, falling temperatures and areas of rain showers and thunderstorms developing west to east across the state today and into tonight. Winter Storm Watches have been posted for the Big Horn Mountains tonight and into Thursday and a High Wind Watch has been posted for southeastern Wyoming on Thursday. All of Wyoming’s major mountain ranges will receive snow late today through early Thursday with the heaviest snows in the Big Horns, Black Hills and Wind Rivers where snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches will be possible by mid day Thursday. Some snow accumulations across the lower elevations of central and northern Wyoming will be possible by late morning Thursday. Very strong winds of 30 to 60 mph will be found along Interstates 25 and 80 tonight and through Thursday. Hazardous travel weather is expected on all mountain passes through Thursday. Hunters, travelers and outdoor interests should prepared for rapidly deteriorating weather conditions.
