Cash Available for Seniors/Disabled

By Mick Birge posted Aug 31, 2009 at 9:32AM

Cash is available to those in the 65-plus set and people with disabilities – and it’s worth up to 900 dollars for married couples. The payments are targeted to those with lower-incomes, and Kim Deti with the Wyoming Department of Health says there’s no doubt those folks need a little extra financial help this year…8.31.09 DETI 1

Deti says some new applications have to be filed each year, and the amount paid and eligibility are also often adjusted8.31.09 DETI 2

Those with a 2008 income of less than 17 thousand, five hundred dollars for a single person, or 28 thousand, five hundred for a married couple, qualify.

Applications have to be post-marked today for the refund (officially called the Elderly and Disabled Tax Refund Program). Senior centers around the state have the applications on hand, or call 866-989-8901.
