Larry Nance, Junior is usually the first player off of the bench for the Wyoming Cowboys. He has definitely earned the minutes he’s been getting, which became a career high 25 in Tuesday’s loss to San Diego State. Nance has also become a national highlight, as his dunk against the Aztecs is an ESPN top play and YouTube sensation. Cowboy head coach Larry Shyatt says that Nance has transformed into an incredibly gifted defensive player.
Nance expects to develop his offensive game and says that he is getting adjusted to his role as a defensive specialist.
The Cowboys will be at Boise State tomorrow afternoon. Tip off is set for 1:30.

Jan. 27, 2012 — Cool, Breezy Late January Weather
By DayWeather, Inc. posted Jan 27, 2012 at 9:14AM
The exiting cold front has left behind cooler temperatures across the state in addition to a little more light snow in the southeast. For the most part, though, today’s weather will be mainly dry statewide. West to northwest winds will be strong at times especially around Cody and also in the north central, east central and southeastern portions of the state where the wind will gust to 35 mph or better.
It will be a chilly start to the weekend, although temperatures will actually be seasonal for this time of the year. Conditions look dry and breezy on Saturday.
The second half of the weekend features high pressure over the state. Sunday will be a warmer, mainly dry day.
Can we have just one calm, windless day?

For a guy who has spent his entire life (with the exception of a couple of college years) in Wyoming, I’m pretty wimpy when it comes to wind. This time of year, when my house is sitting right in the path of the jet stream, I’m ready for that endless wind to take it down a notch. Listen to today’s show to find out how I hold on to my sanity — if only tenuously — when the wind just won’t quit.

January 26, 2012 — A Cold Front and Snow Showers Push Through Today and Friday Morning
By DayWeather, Inc. posted Jan 26, 2012 at 8:45AM
Snow will start to fall in northwest and western Wyoming later today as a cold front starts to move in. Further east, it will be a mild but breezy January day. The strongest winds will be found in the southeast along I-80. A High Wind Watch has been posted for some areas this afternoon and this evening.
Speaking of the evening, snow showers will spread into the central portion of the state and then travel southeast tonight into Friday morning. The western quarter of the state will see the most significant snowfall from this front. Much of western Wyoming is under a Winter Weather Advisory through Friday morning. Southern portions of Yellowstone National Park could see six to 12 inches of snow. Lighter accumulations will found further south and east and along some stretches of southern I-25 late this evening through Friday morning. In the far southeast, visibility may be reduced at times tonight due to the strong winds and passing snow showers.
On Friday, behind the cold front, it will be cooler statewide. Lingering snow showers in the morning will give way to mainly dry conditions in the afternoon and evening.

Jury selection has taken place in a Fremonth County courtroom in Lander in the retrial of a Montana man who’s murder conviction in Fremont County was overturned last year.
The 25-year-old Ehlers’ body was found in Hoback Canyon in the early morning hours of June 21, 1984.
Ehlers’ case went cold for decades before Sublette County brought charges against Willoughby in early 2009.
Prosecutor To Seek Death Penalty In Cheyenne Double Murder Case
By Mick Birge posted Jan 26, 2012 at 7:14AM
A special prosecutor says several factors support imposing the death penalty against a Cheyenne man accused of gunning down two people and critically wounding a third last summer.
Nathaniel Castellanos has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges in the August shootings of 21-year-old Corey A. Walker and 25-year-old Megan L. McIntosh, both of Cheyenne. Castellanos pleaded not guilty to attempted murder in the shooting of another woman.
Casper District Attorney Mike Blonigen listed factors made public this week that he says would support imposing the death penalty against Castellanos.
Blonigen alleges Castellanos’ actions created the risk of death to two or more people, that he’s likely to commit more violence, that McIntosh’s murder was especially cruel and that Castellanos committed murder to avoid arrest.

Scattered snow showers are expected to spread from northwest to southeast during this time frame. Through Thursday afternoon the most significant snowfall is expected in the northwest. WYO Delegation Reacts to President’s State Of The Union Address
By Mick Birge posted Jan 25, 2012 at 6:52AM
Wyoming delegates in Washington are responding to President Obama‘s state of the union address.
Lummis and Wyoming senator John Barrasso both criticized President Obama on his actions against the Keystone XL pipeline saying it is both safe and creates 20,000 jobs almost right away.
In his speech, the president said he wants to close the gap between rich and poor. Obama once again proposed higher taxes for the wealthy.
Obama also said the American Dream is under siege saying republicans have an all-out assault on the middle class. He encouraged republicans to join him in fixing the country’s problems but warned he intends to fight if he feels more political impasse continues.
Mead Submits New “Scaled-Down” Budget
By Mick Birge posted Jan 25, 2012 at 6:43AM
Governor Mead says it’s frustrating to have to trim his budget proposal to the state Legislature in response to recent state revenue projections calling for a $100-million decline in state revenues due to lower natural gas prices.
Mead (pictured) in December proposed a $3.4-billion state funds budget for the two-year funding period that begins in July. This month, the state’s Consensus Revenue Estimating Group lowered revenue projections on falling natural gas prices.
Mead this week submitted proposed spending cuts to state lawmakers that reduce his spending proposal by nearly $70 million, including cutting money for state employee pay raises.
Mead’s still proposing that the state maintain $168 million in funding to local governments. He says the spending is critical to maintaining the state’s infrastructure.
